Role & Context:
Joined Byte Orbit as a Mid-Level UI Designer, contributing to the ongoing evolution of Shyft by Standard Bank, a global money app enabling users to buy, send, spend, and exchange foreign currency.
Worked within a cross-functional product team to support the continuous improvement of the platform through feature enhancements and UI updates. Collaborated closely with external Shyft stakeholders, product owners, and internal design leads to translate requirements into polished, user-centered interfaces.
Operated within an established design system while ensuring all work aligned with Shyft’s visual identity and product standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conceptualize new features based on client requests and product requirements.
Translate briefs into intuitive, high-fidelity UI designs.
Maintain consistency by leveraging and contributing to the existing design system.
Collaborate with product designers, developers, and stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle.
Prepare design files for developer handoff, ensuring clarity and feasibility.
Manage multiple feature requests while balancing business goals and user needs.
Iterate on designs based on feedback and evolving product priorities.
Design Approach:
Approach each feature with a strong focus on usability, clarity, and scalability within a live fintech product.
