Landing Page Re-Design
A simple take on Pennyjuice’s website design.
Year :
2020
Industry :
Retail
Client :
Challenge
Project Duration :
2 hours

Overview :
Penny Juice is an online juice supplier specialising in natural fruit juices for childcare centres.
The existing website was functional but visually inconsistent, with usability issues that impacted readability, clarity, and overall user experience.
This project focuses on redesigning the interface to create a cleaner, more structured, and visually cohesive experience.

Opportunity & Context :
The original website presented several UI challenges:
Overuse of bright, clashing colours
Poor information hierarchy
Small, hard-to-read text
Inconsistent spacing and layout
A cluttered and visually overwhelming interface
These issues made it difficult for users to quickly understand the product offering and navigate the site effectively.
Opportunity:
Improve clarity, readability, and visual consistency while maintaining a playful, child-friendly brand tone.

Design Approach :
The redesign focused on simplifying the visual system and improving structure across the page.
Colour System
I reduced the colour palette to a single primary brand colour (orange) supported by neutral backgrounds.
This helped to:
Create visual consistency
Improve focus and hierarchy
Maintain energy without overwhelming the user
Typography & Hierarchy
Increased font sizes for readability
Established clear heading and body text hierarchy
Improved contrast for accessibility
Layout & Spacing
Introduced consistent spacing and grid structure
Reduced visual clutter
Grouped related content for easier scanning
Visual Direction
Used high-quality fruit imagery to reinforce product quality
Balanced playful elements with a clean, modern layout

Outcome :
The redesigned interface presents a clearer, more structured experience that improves both usability and visual appeal.
The project highlights:
The impact of simplifying colour systems
The importance of strong hierarchy in content-heavy pages
How spacing and layout contribute to perceived quality
Translating a noisy interface into a clean, modern design
This project strengthened my ability to refine existing products by identifying core UI issues and applying fundamental design principles to improve clarity and user experience.
